Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does a mobile racing simulator rental actually work?

At FastLap Sim-Racing Rentals, our trailer rolls up to your venue with up to four fully-built rigs inside. We handle delivery, installation, calibration, and breakdown. You just need space for the trailer and guests who want to race — everything else is dialed in before the first green flag.

  • Why don't you offer VR headsets with your simulators?

We run Samsung Odyssey 49" ultrawide curved monitors instead. VR causes motion sickness for a surprising number of guests, raises hygiene concerns with shared headsets, and slows rotations between racers. Ultrawides give immersive peripheral vision without any of that friction.

  • Why do you use rFactor 2 instead of a console racing game like Forza or Gran Turismo?

rFactor 2 is what actual professional racing teams use for driver training. The tracks are laser-scanned, the tire physics are accurate to the millimeter, and the cars model real-world behavior.

  • How long does a typical race session take per guest?

Plan roughly 8–12 minutes per guest per rig — that's a few practice laps plus a timed hot lap. With four rigs running, a 100-person event comfortably fits in about 4 hours. For tournament formats with brackets and finals, budget closer to 15 minutes per driver.

  • Do I need any racing or gaming experience to drive one of your rigs?

None. Our on-site staff gets first-timers comfortable in about 60 seconds — the direct-drive wheel and loadcell pedals are actually more intuitive than arcade gear because they behave like a real car. Most guests post their fastest lap in their third or fourth attempt.

  • What kind of space do I need at my venue for the trailer setup?

We need room to park the trailer (similar footprint to a large pickup with a box trailer) plus a level area nearby for guest queuing. Indoor venues need a loading door we can stage near. At FastLap Sim-Racing Rentals, we do a quick site check before the event to confirm access and power requirements.

  • What kind of hardware do you use in your racing simulators?

Every rig runs a Simagic direct-drive wheelbase and wheel, Sim-Lab loadcell pedals, and a rigid Trak Racer or Sim-Lab aluminum chassis, paired with a Samsung Odyssey 49" ultrawide monitor and rFactor 2 software. Think pro-team driver-training gear, not arcade parts — the same caliber components real sim racers run at home.
